We continued a family tradition of beach and
bluegrass at Thanksgiving.  It was cool in the
mornings, but Kaleb's exercise program kept
us warm.
By mid-day it was
warm enough to sit
outside and enjoy
the sun.
We may have started a
new tradition of eating
out for our Thanksgiving
meal.  That seemed really
popular with the cooking
members of the family.
Our annual new discovery
of an old band this year
was "Blue Highway."  We
have overlooked this
wonderful group, but not
anymore.
We really would not enjoy the amount of time
the bands spend on the road, but we sure
do admire the vehicles they ride around in.
We're in our seats
and ready to enjoy
some bluegrass!
It's impossible for this
many pickers to get
together and not have a
jam session.  Some hope
to be discovered, and
others just want to play.
Bluegrass performers
love their fans and are
always eager to talk.
Little Roy Lewis had a
long chat with Audra,
Kaleb, and Martha
backstage.  Kaleb loves
Little Roy.
Undoubtedly, Dailey and
Vincent are the hottest
group in bluegrass music
right now.  They are
international superstars,
but are as friendly and
down to earth as a next
door neighbor.
They invited Martha's
cousin, Henry, down
and had him join in on
their warm-up practice
before going on stage.
Henry is sporting his new Kojak look due to
his chemotherapy.  He is more like Martha
and Barbara's brother than their cousin.
They all grew up together back in the day
when almost everyone living along a country
road was kin.
Henry's friend Wayne
Spears (blue shirt) brought
him to the show, and was
very pleasantly surprised
himself when he ran into a
former co-worker and
friend of his that he hadn't
seen in years.
Rhonda Vincent was also
performing this weekend.
She gave this young fellow
a chance to perform on
stage.  He has some old
Hank Williams and Stanley
Brothers tunes down pat.
Rhonda is another performer who
treats her fans like family.  She
stays until every autograph is
signed and every picture taken.
There was a line of old men
wrapped all around the building
waiting to have a picture made
with her in that low-cut red dress!
