We went to Cannobio,
Italy for the Sunday
morning market. The
streets weren't any
wider there either.
Manuel dropped us
off while he went to
look for a parking
place.
Martha was excited
about her Italian
shopping trip.
The outdoor market
stretched along the
shore of Lake Maggiore.
There was lots of
stuff and lots of
people. The ladies
were loaded with
Euros and ready to
go.
This guy was a jerk, but
Martha and Barbara
(with Alessandra and
Daniella's help) did
beat him at his own
game.
Cannobio was a
lovely village, and
the weather was
perfect that day.
Oh, remember Manuel
was looking for parking.
He had to go to the next
village of Carrero
Rivera. (MB)
He enjoyed walking
around and taking
pictures of that
village more than
shopping anyway.
(MB)
Meanwhile, we finished
our shopping and
waited for his return at
this square in Connobio.
After our shopping
trip, we picked up
Ingrid and Michaela
for a tour of the Valle
Verzasca and the
village of Sonogno.
Sonogno was another
of those wonderful
Swiss-Italian villages
nestled in a dramatic
setting.
Do we look like a
bunch of tourists
or what?
These villages are
history brought to
life.
The water flowing
through the Verzasca
Valley is a crystal
clear emerald green
color. The bottom of
the river can be seen
at any point. (MB)
Millions of years and
countless floods have
carved magnificent
natural artwork in the
riverbed. (MB)
Farther down the
valley was the
Verzasca Dam. The
opening scene of the
James Bond Film,
"Goldeneye" was shot
here. It is 721 feet
high, and one of the
tallest dams in Europe.
We decided not to
try bungy jumping
this time. That is a
really long way
down!
Luigi and Ingrid invited
us back to their home
for supper. Luigi's
grandfather built this
home in 1835.
It is beautiful beyond
description and we
were honored to be
invited into their
home.
We're ready to go as
Ingrid shoots some
video in the background.
(MB)
We still like each
other even after we
got married. (MB)
They have a patio
that defines comfort!
We were fed like
royalty and ate like
pigs! Have you
noticed we ate a lot
on this trip? (MB)
The Merlini Family:
Alessandra, Luigi,
Dario, Daniella,
Micheala, and Ingrid.
Thank you so much
for such a wonderful
evening.
The Fab-Six together
for one last photo.
The next day Jasmine
had to leave us to go
back to work.
Unfortunately, her
vacation was over.
