July 4th
Celebration

with Rick and Vickie Shelton at
Bayview Campground
Watauga Lake, TN
Thanks to Rick and
Sissie, we were able
to get a last minute
reservation for the
4th of July weekend.
The Shelton Mansion
on wheels.
Bayview Campground is
located at Butler, TN on
the shores of Watauga
Lake.
Most of the RV's are
set up for seasonal
camping complete with
decks and landscaping.
The boat slip is
merely steps away.
Cap'n Rick soon has
us underway on a trip
down the lake in his
pontoon boat.
Martha knows how
to relax on a boat.
July 4th is boat
parade day on the
lake, and every kind
of boat imaginable
was on the water.
There were many huge houseboats lining up
for the parade.  They were decorated to the
hilt in patriotic colors and themes.
It's likely that many of these huge boats rarely
leave the dock, except for this event.  We were
able to get some great close-up pictures because
Rick parked us in the middle of the staging area
for the parade.
Crowds lined up on
shore as well as the
water to watch the
parade.
When the parade was
over we headed back to
camp to prepare for the
evening celebration.
The highways weren't
the only place
congested today.  We
had lots of company
out on the water.
A big cookout with the
campers was held for
supper.  Barbeque,
hotdogs, with all the
fixin's, and a trillion
calories worth of
deserts - Oh My!
A lady was selling jewelry,
so Martha just happened
to drop by and check it
out.
There was enough
food to feed an army,
so we all ate like a
bunch of starved
soldiers.
This is Martha and Sissie
with our new friend Dee.
After the meal we were
entertained by a local
bluegrass gospel band.
Knowing of our love for
the water, good food,
and bluegrass music, it's
easy to determine that
we were having a good
time by now.
Meet Mr. and Mrs. July 4th.
We were entertained
with two separate
fireworks shows going
on at the same time on
each side of the
campground.
The only problem was
that we needed to visit a
chiropractor afterwards
from turning our head so
much.
One thing we did learn
this night is that it is
exceptionally difficult to
photograph fireworks with
the delayed response of a
digital camera.
