IBMA Awards Show
Nashville, TN
September 28 - 29, 2006
The International
Bluegrass Music
Association (IBMA)
awards show was
held at the Grand
Ole Opry House in
Nashville
We were surprised
that we were able to
get tickets to this
event.
The place was packed
before the night was
over.
Cherryholmes was the
opening act.  This family
group defines superb
talent combined with
high energy!
Martha swooned
like a teenager
when Russell Moore
(IIIrd Tyme Out)
came out to make a
presentation.
Doyle Lawson and
Quicksilver won
multiple awards and
performed one of
their hits.
We left the RV at
home this trip and
stayed at the Gaylord
Opryland Hotel.
Wow, was that ever a
nice place!
We've both stayed
in lots of hotels, but
this one is different
from all the rest.
This one came with
its own formal
garden just outside
our room.
All of these pictures are made
inside the hotel.  A gardener's
dream - no bugs, and it never
needs rain!
The only reason that I
got in this place is they
thought I was a delivery
man.
I didn't know that radio
station WSM had their
broadcast studios
there.  Anyone who
has listened to the
Grand Ole Opry is
familiar with those call
letters.
We couldn't resist
the temptation to
wander around the
Opry Mills Mall
while we were
there.
I was especially
fascinated to watch
guitars and other
musical instruments
being made at the
Gibson store.
